Paula Duarte Serrato died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002 at her home in Salinas. She was 72.
Mrs. Serrato was born in Heber and was a homemaker. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and was known for her cooking. She enjoyed shopping, listening to her husband’s music, dressing up and going to church and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Luis Alvarez Serrato of Salinas; her children, Cecilia Avila, Mary S. Leon and Matilda Salcido, all of Hollister, John J. Serrato, Rita Quair and Susie Rodriguez, all of Salinas, and Arthur Serrato of Los Banos; her brothers and sisters, Ralph, Peter, Augustine, Raymond, Lupe and Mary Duarte, all of Hollister, Lucy Herrera of San Jose and Dolores Duarte of Texas; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Whitehurst Muller Chapel in Salinas. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salinas. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories in Salinas.
