Peggy Powell, 78, passed away on February 6, at home, after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. Her daughter Stacey was by her side.

Peggy had lived in Morgan Hill since 1950 when she came here from Arkansas to marry her husband Charley. She worked for the Red and White Grocery and also Nob Hill Foods. In the mid 60’s she went to work for Bill Link, at Link Insurance Agency. Not only were they life-long friends, but she remained working with him for 29 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley. She is survived by her daughter, Stacey.

She will be remembered as a true “lady” with a definite opinion and a big heart. She had her own style and the attitude to go with it. She truly loved all the old and new friends she made through her various bridge groups. They brought out the best in her hostessing skills. During the past 10 years she and Stacey had many opportunities to travel. Through Stacey’s work she made many new “Allstate” friends.

Thank you to Caroline, Paul and Nancy, her caregiver, for all their support during her illness. She will most of all miss being a Nona to Jordan.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 12-3 pm at Rosy’s at the Beach, 17320 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill, 95037.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Live Oak Foundation Grants Program in Peggy’s name, 650 Calle Viento, Morgan Hill, CA 95037 or the charity of your choice.
