Long-time Hollister resident and businessman
Long-time Hollister resident Perry E. Bishop died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at Northside Convalescent Hospital. He was 75.

Mr. Bishop was born in Chicago and had lived in Hollister since 1948. He served in the U.S. Army just after World War II and owned and operated what is now Bishop Lusink Insurance in Hollister for many years.

He was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, past president of the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and the Hollister Exchange Club and was treasurer of the Exchange Club Boy Scout troop, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 211, the Shriners, the American Legion, Scottish Rite and Sons In Retirement.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Lanetta Bishop of Hollister; his sons and their wives, Paul and Debra Sue Bishop of Ridgecrest, Phillip and Shawna Bishop of Sacramento and Peter and Helen Bishop of Independence Mo.; his brothers, Michael, Eugene and Francis “Junior” Bishop, all of Hollister; and four grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects Monday, Jan. 13 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Hammond and the Masonic Lodge will officiate. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9242 of Hollister.

A reception at Paine’s Club on East Street near Fourth will follow the funeral services.

Memorials are preferred to the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation, the Hollister Exchange Club Boy Scout Troop or St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church.
