I have worked in personnel for a city in California for over 27
years. Our personnel department does all the negotiations with the
union regarding layoffs.
The City of Hollister has a personnel officer
– what’s wrong with that person doing the negotiations? Do we
not pay that person’s salary?

I think this is just another way for the good old boys to spend more of the city’s money that we do not have. Political payoff.
Also, there have been comments made about the DA not appearing in court: Most DAs do not appear in court. They have their staff there to represent the county.
All it seems is that people in this area do is whine. Before people whine they should check to see what other cities do.
