Hollister resident
Pete Garza died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at Hazel Hawkins Northside Convalescent Hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Garza was born in Allen, La. and raised in Shreveport, La. As a boy, he delivered telegrams for Western Union. He came to San Benito County in 1960 and was a mechanic for Bishop Motors for many years and also worked as a TV technician. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Pura, of Hollister; his children and their spouses, Virginia “Ginger” Anne and Robert LeBarre, Pete Alfred and Carolyn Garza and Michael and Susan Garza, all of Hollister, Amparo Mary and Sam Payne of Illinois, Joseph and Kristin Garza of Oregon, Joan Alice and Jim Gillham of Porterville and Augustina Luciana and Ronald Lewis of Washington; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pura Esperanza Hernandez.

Friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:45 a.m. for graveside services at Calvary Cemetery at 10 a.m. Interment will follow.
