Peter F. Doman died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at his home in Hollister. He was 54.

Mr. Doman was born in Budapest, Hungary and had lived in Hollister since 1992. He attended Saratoga High School, where he played varsity basketball for all four years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a sergeant with the U.S. Army in 1970-71 when the defoliant Agent Orange was used extensively. He had been a project manager for Electronic Data Systems since 1973 but in recent years was not as active with the company because of his health.

Mr. Doman was a member of the Hollister VFW Post 9242 and enjoyed playing sports, particularly golf, before his health began to fail. He enjoyed card games, especially playing pedro with his father-in-law and other ranchers at on Westside Road, and also collected coins. His brother, Andrew Doman, said he had a good head for numbers and was always good at math.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Doman of Hollister; his son, Christopher Doman of Hollister; his mother and stepfather, Eva and Steve Delia of Chico; his brothers, Andrew Doman of San Jose, Fred Doman Jr. of Chico and Bela Doman of Grants Pass, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Doman Sr.

Per Mr. Doman’s wishes, cremation has been arranged through Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory. Family and friends will assemble at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Benedict Columbarium with military rites by Hollister VFW Post 9242.

Memorials are preferred to the Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or the Hollister VFW Post.
