At the age of 60, Hollister resident Peter R. Young died in his home Sunday, July 13.

Young had lived in Hollister for 14 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts – where he achieved the highest award in scouting, the Eagle Scout – and started Boy Scout Troop 505 in Pajaro.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Peter Young. Young is survived by his wife of 41 years Diane Young of Watsonville; son Pete Young of Watsonville; daughter and son-in-law Sheilah and John of Oakley, Calif.; sister Ellen of Lincoln Hills, Calif.; sister-in-law Nancy Belle; and granddaughters Corra and Alexis.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel in Watsonville Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. with a time of remembrance and sharing from 7 to 8 p.m. At the family’s request, a private family service will be held on Saturday. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery in Watsonville.

Remembrances are preferred to Boy Scout Troop 505 in Pajaro, Together in Pajaro or a charity of the donor’s choice.
