Phyllis Jane Goold

Born April 7, 1924 in Hollister, CA, she passed peacefully May 18, 2009 in Sacramento at the age of 85. Phyllis was preceded in death by brothers James and Walter Butterfield and son John Goold. She is survived by her husband Herbert Goold, son Philip Goold, Grandson Justin Goold, and daughter-in-law Chris Goold. She is fondly remembered by her nieces Lorre Islas, Anne Kerns, Susan Scrivner, in-laws Tom and Burna Goold and Erma Barber, cousin David McLaren, and friends Mary McKinnon, Cathy Seapy, Tudy and Don Thompson, MD, Ted Merrill, MD, and Dorothy Denman of Reedsport Or. Phyllis was first born of California pioneers Earle and Marjorie McLaren Butterfield. She married her high school sweetheart Herbert Goold. They live in Gilroy and raised two sons. She then returned to college at the age of 42 to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. She was proud to have been named student nurse of the year by her peers. She worked as a nursing instructor and as a hospital and office nurse over a span of 20 years. She was an avid reader, gourmet cook, wonderful seamstress, and played the piano. She and her husband retired to Reedsport Oregon. She was a member of the PEO sisterhood of Reedsport Oregon. At her request there will be no services.
