Matthew Doty

At around noon Thursday, Hollister police arrested a 20-year-old Hollister man at the skate park on suspicion of possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and for a felony warrant alleging possession of marijuana for sale.
Police arrested Matthew Doty at the Veterans Memorial Park facility after a police officer made a routine contact with the suspect and realized he had a warrant out for his arrest, according to a statement from police, which noted there have been complaints of drug activity in the area.
According to a police statement:
Officer Rodriguez observed a white male adult standing beside a silver sedan parked near the Hollister Skate Park at Veterans Memorial Park. Officer Rodriguez observed that the man was not skating and was speaking to several young skateboarders at the park. Officer Rodriguez made contact with the man who identified himself as Matthew Doty. A routine check revealed that he had a $25,000 felony warrant for his arrest for possession of marijuana for sales.
The officer then searched his vehicle and found a loaded shotgun, several round of ammunition and a small amount of marijuana, police alleged.
Police booked Doty at the San Benito County Jail.
