ARRESTS
Theft of utility service, Clearview Drive
At 4:39 p.m. on Thursday, a woman reported that her mother had an extension cord leading through her fence and to the neighbors’ property. The woman said her mother, who lives alone on the 2000 block of Clearview Drive, was unaware of the chord and that the chord had not been there for very long. Police responded the neighboring residence and found two adult females and two children in a dark, messy house. One of the females said she was only staying there while the other had two small children and complained of pain resulting from an abortion. Both said they knew nothing of the chord. The mother of two, a 23-year-old Hollister resident, was found to have an outstanding warrant and was arrested. She was booked into the county jail and the children were taken by Child Protective Services.
Assault with a deadly weapon, Marne Drive
At 11:12 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a complaint of possible battery in progress on the 1000 block of Line Street. Police observed two males walking away from the scene and stopped them. One of them had a golf-ball sized bump on his head. The two reported that they had been jumped by four males. Neither brother was interested in reporting the crime. Police ran a warrant check and found that the 19-year-old Hollister male had a warrant out of El Paso, Texas. Both were taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for medical clearance and the 19-year-old was found to have a dislocated shoulder. He refused treatment without medicine and refused to cooperate with police. He had to be restrained and started kicking an officer. The suspect was arrested for resisting an officer and was booked into the county jail.
Petty theft, Tres Pinos Road
At 9:42 p.m. on Saturday, a 40-year-old Hollister woman was found to be shoplifting from Kmart on the 400 block of Tres Pinos Road. The suspect took a purse, took the price tag off, put a hat in the purse and attempted to leave the store without paying. A civilian stopped the woman and called the police. She was cited and released.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS
Bad checks, Diablo Drive
At 1:21 p.m. on Saturday, a man flagged down police on Fourth Street and said he had been receiving bad checks over the two prior days. The man deposited the first check for $3,000 he received on Friday at the bank and later was contacted saying the check was no good. On Saturday, he received another check at his residence on the 1500 block of Diablo Drive from an Arizona company for $4,900 saying he was a mystery shopper and should spend the money at local stores. He brought the check to the bank and he was told it was fraudulent. No suspect information was available.
Vehicle Theft, Busby Court
At 8:46 p.m. on Friday, a vehicle was stolen from a residence on the 700 block of Busby Court. Police said the owner was working on the car with the radio on and the keys in the ignition. He left to go inside and came out to find the car missing. Police said he heard screeching tires but didn’t think anything of it. The wife did not immediately report the car stolen at 8:15 p.m. because she thought it might have been taken by a relative. When she did report it, police were also responding to an accident report involving the vehicle. The woman’s purse was also in the car. No suspect information was available.
