Under the influence of a controlled substance, Monterey Street

At 10 p.m. on Sunday, police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Nash Road and Monterey Street for a vehicle code violation. Police spoke with the 34-year-old female Hollister driver and determined that she was under the influence of a controlled substance. She was also in violation of her parole. The officer then spoke with the passenger, a 52-year-old Hollister man, and found he was carrying a concealed weapon. Both of them were arrested and booked into the county jail.

Assault with a deadly weapon, McCray Street

At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the intersection of McCray Street and South Street over a domestic dispute involving a vehicle. The dispute was between the parents of a child, who was riding in the mother’s car. At some point during the initial investigation, the mother said that the suspect, the 20-year-old Hollister male, struck her vehicle with his while the child was in the car. Police said there is some dispute about whether there was even a collision. Police interviewed the suspect and found there was an existing restraining order for him. He was arrested for child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and violating the restraining order, and he was booked into the county jail.

Evading a peace officer, Industrial Drive

At 10:30 p.m. on Friday, a 38-year-old Hollister man failed to stop for police in the area of Industrial Drive and Gibbs Drive. Police said that the suspect didn’t stop initially but later did. After he talked with police, the suspect was found to have a warrant out for his arrest. He was arrested and booked into the county jail.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS

Second-degree burglary, Hillcrest Road

At some point between 8 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday, an unknown suspect smashed a vehicle’s window on the 600 block of Hillcrest Road and stole some electronics. No suspect information was available.

Annoying phone calls, McCarthy Street

At 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a victim reported receiving several annoying phone that were vulgar on the 300 block of McCarthy Street. Police have a known male suspect and are working with the victim to finalize the case before sending it to the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office.

Identity theft, Westward Drive

A victim at 3 p.m. Friday reported to police that an unknown suspect used personal information over the past three years.Police said that there may or may not have been fraud involved. The investigation is on-going.
