A 27-year-old Hollister man was arrested June 9 and charged by
police with driving under the influence of alcohol and for
possession of a dangerous weapon. Vasquez said the man was pulled
over after he drove through a red light at the intersection of
Meridian and Recht streets. The man was found to be intoxicated,
Vasquez said, and during a search of his car officers found a
loaded .22 caliber rifle. He was booked into San Benito County
Jail.
Vehicle theft
A white 1989 four-door Toyota Camry was reported stolen June 10 from outside a residence in the 800 block of Hillcrest Road. According to a Hollister Police Capt. Richard Vasquez, the owner of the vehicle said his wife parked the car in front of the residence on the night of June 9 and the car was gone the next day.
