Driving Under the Influence:
Roberto Valencia, 26, of the 2500 block of Sadies Drive in Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving without a license, both misdemeanors, at 2:00am Saturday, according to the CHP. Valencia was stopped for a traffic violation on Enterprise Road east of Highway 25, according to the CHP.
Jose David Lopez, 21, of the 1000 block of South Street in Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, at 2:44am Saturday, according to the CHP. Lopez was stropped for a traffic violation on southbound Highway 25 south of Shore Road, according to the CHP.
Santiago Sanchez Cervantes, 26, of the 1300 block of Meridian Street in Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor and possession of a controlled substance, a felony, at 1:15am Monday, according to the CHP. Cervantes was stopped for a traffic violation on Lucy Brown Road north of Highway 156, according to the CHP.
Drug Possession:
Byron Lee Byers Jr., 28, of the 900 block of Helen Drive in Hollister, was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, a felony; possession of an illegal weapon, a felony; drug trafficking, a felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and possession of a methamphetamine, a misdemeanor, after being stopped for a vehicle code violation, according to deputies. Deputies found a warrant for Byers’ arrest, according to police. A search of Byers’ vehicle by deputies and Dix, the K-9 patrol officer, produced 123 ounces of marijuana, 1.55 grams of methamphetamine, a pair of brass knuckles and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe, according to deputies.
Domestic Violence:
Javier Linares, 40, of Hollister, was arrested by the police department on suspicion of felony domestic violence at 8:17pm Friday after Linares pulled a woman by her hair and hit two children in the face.
Auto Theft:
Richard Taylor, 24, of Modesto, and Enrique Gutierrez Jr., 31, of Hollister were arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of vehicle theft, a felony; possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor; possession of methamphetamine, a felony; and evading police, a felony, after being pursued and arrested for running a stop sign at Fourth and Line streets early Saturday morning, according to deputies. Deputies pulled behind in pursuit as the vehicle headed southbound on Westside Boulevard and accelerated, according to police. The vehicle stopped on Jacqueline Lane and the driver, Taylor, fled with Deputy Rick Uribe in pursuit on foot, according to deputies. Uribe apprehended Taylor on Jacqueline near Summer Drive, according to deputies. Deputies found 0.46 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle and a bag of marijuana on each suspect, totaling 4.83 grams, according to deputies. The vehicle’s owner pulled up after both suspects were in custody, saying the vehicle was stolen, according to deputies.
All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
