Petty Theft:

Jimmy Larry Villegas, 31, of Hollister, was arrested by police for petty theft with a prior conviction for burglary, theft or robbery, a felony; false identification to a peace officer, a misdemeanor; violation of parole, a felony; possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, after being arrested by loss prevention at K-Mart on Tres Pinos Road at 4:35pm Wednesday , police said. Villegas allegedly was under the influence of a drug and had stolen clothes from the store, police said.

Driving Under the Influence:

Victor Barrera, 22, of Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol for misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor driving without a license at south of Shore Road on southbound Highway 25 at 9:08pm Wednesday, the CHP said. Barrera was stopped for a routine traffic stop, the CHP said.

Assaulting a Peace Officer:

Gregory Michael Nichols, 37, of Hollister, was arrested by police for assaulting a peace officer, evading police and resisting arrest in the 900 block of Meridian at 3:32am Thursday, police said. Police attempted to stop Nichols, who was on a bike, for not having a bicycle light. When officers ordered Nichols to stop, he allegedly sped up in an attempt to evade the officers and attempted to use his bicycle as a shield and hit an officer, police said.

Minor in Possession:

Adrian Marcos Rivera, 18, of 1371 Black Forest Street in Hollister, was arrested by police for false identification to a police officer, a misdemeanor, an outstanding warrant, and a minor in possession, a misdemeanor, at the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Acacia Street at 3:06pm Thursday, police said. Police saw Rivera litter a Budweiser can, and when contacted he gave officers a false name, police said.

Burglary:

Craig Leroy Stephens, 30, of San Juan Bautista, was arrested by police for a felony burglary at 7:13pm Thursday, police said. Stephens used a fake ATM card to steal gas, a coke and a pack of cigarettes from the Hometown Gas on San Benito Street on Oct. 12, police said. The ATM card looked similar to an example card sent with credit offers, police said. The arresting officer made the arrest while on an unrelated case, police said.

All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
