Rape

A Hollister woman said two or three transient men raped her during a “barbecue” party June 6 behind Taco Bell restaurant on San Felipe Road.

Hollister Police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio said the woman reported that she had been invited by a group of transient men to a makeshift campsite behind the restaurant. The woman said she was drinking alcohol with the men and eventually passed out in one of the tents. It was there, she said, that two or three of the men raped her while she was unconscious.

Betanio said no suspect description was available and that an investigation is under way.

“The (transient campsites) can be dangerous,” Betanio said. “You never know what could be there; feces, drugs, alcohol. You don’t know what kind of situation you’re into and you need to be aware.”
