Police blotter: Several drunk in public tickets issued

HOLLISTER

After more than two years with reduced hours, the Hollister Police Department starting the week of March 2 will return to being open during normal business hours.

The department is set to be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, excluding holidays, while it had been open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. effective January 2007 due to budget constraints.

A press statement from the department notes how it has hired an additional police services officer to staff the records bureau using Measure T sales-tax funds. With that and other hiring to fill existing vacancies, it has allowed the additional office hours.

“The Hollister Police Department is pleased to be able to return to regular business hours for its Records Bureau,” Chief Jeff Miller said in the release. “The reduced hours were often maintained by only a Police Services Supervisor and a Police Services Officer. Though at many times they were overwhelmed, they did an outstanding job providing service.”
