Hollister – Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Saturday.
It was the city’s seventh drive-by shooting in the past three months.
The drive-by shooting occurred between 10 and 11pm Saturday. A home in the first block of Rustic Street was hit with four .45-caliber bullets, said Officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department.
The residents did not realize their home was targeted.
“They didn’t know they were shot at until the next day,” Betanio said.
No one was injured in the shooting.
The occupants – a family of four – notified police at 8:30am Sunday when they found bullet holes on the front of their home, Betanio said.
Authorities believe up to five other residents of that home could be involved in gangs, but were not home at the time of the shooting.
Police are investigating the gang connection.
Five of the seven drive-by shootings since February have been confirmed to be gang-related, according to police.
Saturday’s shooting surpasses the city’s total of six drive-bys in 2006, according to police records.
“From January until now, it is a significant amount of drive-bys,” Betanio said.
