The Hollister Police Department announced today it has arrested four people in three different suspected thefts or attempted thefts from automobiles throughout the city, according to a press release.

On Sept. 11 around 12:30 a.m., officers arrested a 17-year-old male in the 600 block of Gabriele Court for suspected petty theft and tampering with a vehicle after a witness observed him and another male trying to enter vehicles parked in the area, according to police. Officers caught the juvenile, while the other male fled.

On Saturday around 9:45 p.m., two males, ages 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of tampering with a vehicle in the 1800 block of Severinson Street after being observed checking door handles of parked vehicles, according to police.

On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., a police sergeant patrolling in the area of Park and Sally streets saw three suspicious males appearing to be looking around a carport. When they walked away, the sergeant contacted them and noticed one of the men appeared extremely nervous, according to police. Police found personal items believed to be stolen in at least two previously unreported thefts in the 800 and 900 blocks of Somme Avenue during the early-morning hours. Police arrested a 24-year-old man and booked him into the county jail, according to the statement.
