HOLLISTER

Hollister police, county probation officers and the state recently conducted a joint roundup here and arrested 13 residents to combat violence and gang activity, according to a press release from the police department.

Authorities conducted the seven-hour operation Dec. 19 within city limits. Agents and officers also worked on patrol, making traffic stops with the goal of reducing criminal activity and identifying violators, the press release states.

The suspected misdeeds range from possession of marijuana and other controlled substances to driving under the influence and other parole violations.

Officers also made contact with 30 others during the operation and citied several for traffic violations – some with suspected gang affiliations, according to the release.

Two juveniles also were arrested, one for illegal possession of tear gas and the other for violation of probation, the release states.
