On Sunday at about 5 a.m. Hollister police responded to the area of Miller Road at San Juan Road after a woman heard two to three gunshots in the area, according to a statement.

Officers quickly found a male victim of an attempted robbery on Miller Road who had just called 911. According to a statement released late Monday, the victim reported a Hispanic male approached him as he walked northbound from the Quickstop at San Juan Road. The suspect reached for a handgun in his waist band and told the victim in Spanish “give me your money.”

According to the statement: “The victim began struggling with the suspect and was able to knock the gun from the suspect’s hand. The victim ran southbound towards the Quickstop Store. The victim said the suspect picked up the gun and fired two to three shots in his direction. The victim was uninjured in this incident.” The suspect was described as Hispanic with a light complexion, slender build, shaved head, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a black hat, black shirt, and black pants. The suspect appeared to be in his mid-20s. Two vehicles in the area were found with gunshot damage.
