Balers defender Marisa Villegas had another standout season.

San Benito High junior Marisa Villegas was named the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division’s co-Defensive Most Valuable Player for girls soccer. Villegas headlined a list of Balers who earned all-MBL honors.
Villegas and teammates Hailey Blackburn and Kayla King made the first team, while Austin Perez, Alyssa Bengivengo and Rachel Peterson earned second-team honors.
Shantay Tamez, Emmalyn Irvin and Carly Lowi made the third team, and Lowi also earned the sportsmanship award. Three Anzar players earned all-Mission Trail League Coastal First-Team honors, including Charlene Tomasini, Ronnee Davis and Montserrat Valenzuela. Erika Eberhardt, Hailey Kennedy and Emely Juaregui made the second team.
Anzar boys to make the first team included Fernando Barron, Rodrigo Amescua and Oscar Roman. Jonathan Renteria, Christian Vega and Anonth Srivasththay made the second team. In girls basketball, Anzar’s Fatima Gomez earned first-team honors and Skylar Seyffert and Annay Tapia made the second team.
