Raquel R. Ventura died Wednesday evening in Hilmar, California
at the age of 58 after a lengthy illness. Wentura was born in
Guadalajara, Mexico on September 16, 1945.
Raquel R. Ventura died Wednesday evening in Hilmar, California at the age of 58 after a lengthy illness. Wentura was born in Guadalajara, Mexico on September 16, 1945.

Ventura came to California from Mexico at the age of 10. She was a resident of  San Benito County. She lived here for 25 years then moved to Los Banos 8 years ago. She had only lived in Hilmar since the first of the year.

She was a member of the Hollister Seventh-day Adventist Church. Raquel was a Bilingual Instructional Aid for Los Banos School District and formerly at San Andreas School here in Hollister. She was also formally a grape inspector for Almaden Vineyards and a tomato inspector for Star Cannery and Tri-Valley Cannery in Los Banos.

Ventura is survived by her husband, Rolando of Hilmar, her children, James Ventura of Los Banos, Frederick Ventura of Hilmar, Irene Parra of Los Banos and Rachel Mendoza of Los Banos. Sister of Juan Vasquez of Merced, Maria Castaneda of San Juan Bautista, Jose, Fred and Carlos Vasquez all of Hollister, Espie Chavez of San Juan Bautista, Gabriel & Daniel Vasquez both of Merced, Antonia Vasquez of Vacaville, Rosa Cecena of Los Banos and the Late Lucio Vasquez. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private family Memorial service will be held in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister on Wednesday, August 18th at 1 P.M. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory in Hollister .
