Raymond Cadei died Wednesday, September 26, 2007, in Gilroy. Husband, father, soldier, grandpa, and community volunteer, Ray was born in Iowa in 1915. He moved with his family to Northern California and eventually to Gilroy as a child. He spent his formative years and all his adult life in Gilroy, except for a tour of duty in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Ray married Isabel in 1942, and she preceded him in death in 2004. They are survived by their children; Diane Cadei of Salinas, Raymond M. Cadei and his wife Toni Moore of Sacramento, Lydia Cadei of Gilroy, Cecilia Cadei Mitchell and her husband Steve Mitchell of Eagle, Idaho and Kay Cadei Newby and her husband Clark Newby of Redwood City; grandchildren Emily Cadei of Washington D.C., Carolyn Cadei of Tour, France, Matthew Mitchell of Eagle, Idaho, and Grace and Sam Newby, both of Redwood City; brother Terry Cadei of Gilroy and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a proud member of the American Legion, VFW, SIRS, Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. As community volunteers, Ray and Isabel worked for many local charities including the Special Olympics and the Garlic Festival from its inception for over 20 years. Donations to Hope Rehabilitation Services, Gilroy Facility 8855 Murray Avenue, Gilroy, CA 95020 or the Gilroy Lions Club, P.O. Box 1788, Gilroy, CA 95021 in his memory are preferred and appreciated.

Vigil Service will be held Friday, October 5, 2007, 7:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 6, 2007, 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
