Raymond Donald Lopez Sr. died from a sudden illness on Saturday April 17, 2004 at Tuolumne General Hospital. He was 50.

A life-long resident of San Benito County, he was born and raised in Hollister and graduated from San Benito High School. He was a family man who loved working in the yard, fishing and camping. He worked as a mechanic for San Benito Tire and formerly worked for Mel’s Chevron.

He is survived in Hollister by his wife, Charrie Lopez, daughter Amanda Lopez, sons Justin and Anthony Lopez, mother Mary Lopez, son-in-law Sean Maroney, brothers Danny and George Lopez, sisters Patricia and Rosemary Lopez, and grandchildren Emiliano, Delilah, Calista and Leilani Lopez and Darian, Donovan and Kaylynn Maroney. He is also survived by his son Staff Sgt. Raymond Donald Lopez Jr. and wife Nicole in the USMC; brother Ruben Lopez of Los Banos; and numerous nieces and nephews. His death was preceded by his father, Trinidad Lopez, and brother Bobby Lopez.

Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m., with the rosary offered at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning from the funeral home commencing at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory with private inurnment.
