R.C. Rodgers was born in Paoli, Oklahoma on August 7, 1926 and moved to California when he was six months old. He was a graduate of San Benito High School and attended San Benito Junior College. A Veteran, he served in WWII with the U.S. Navy on Guam and Hawaii. He married Beverly DeRosa on April 9, 1950 – Easter Sunday, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. R.C. worked for A.T.&T. and retired after 37 years. His memberships included Hollister Post No. 9242, V.F.W., the I.O.O.F. where he served twice as Noble Grand; Hollister Lodge No. 1436, B.P.O.E., and the S.I.R.S. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his wife at Topaz Lake for weeks at a time. R.C. enjoyed trailer traveling and also cruising to such places as the Panama Canal, Alaska, the upper Mississippi and lower Mississippi on a river boat; and most recently Hawaii. R.C. was an avid Oakland “A’s” baseball fan and he and Bev enjoyed traveling to Arizona each year to watch their spring training.

R.C. was a kind and loving man. He was proud of his family and especially enjoyed going to his grandsons’ sporting events and other functions. Surviving R.C. are his wife , Beverly Rodgers of Hollister; his daughter, Denise Thome and husband Jerry of Hollister; his grandsons Nathan Thome of Los Angeles and Kevin Thome of Hollister; his sisters Nola Fox of Santa Barbara and Frances (Jim) Boetcher of Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Donald Rodgers, his brothers Les and Bill Rodgers; his sisters Opal Bryant, Jessie Keller, Joyce Stark, and Hazel Dowdy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday , March 2nd from 12 noon until 7 P.M. at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Family and friends will leave the mortuary Wednesday morning at 9:30 A.M. to proceed to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass commencing at 10 A.M.

Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. with military honors provided by the Hollister Post No. 9242, V.F.W.
