Dear Editor:
I had the privilege last Tuesday evening to attend the Hollister FFA Awards Banquet at Bolado Park. As I looked around the room, I realized I was surrounded by some of the finest, most well-rounded youth in our community. Their achievements ranged from a National Scholarship recipient to statewide and local recognition. The president of their chapter, as well as many of the officers, were female, and well on their way to a bright future.
But the part that amazed me the most was when I picked up the newspaper the following day, sure that I would see headlines documenting this important evening of acknowledgment, and I saw nothing. Not one article. Not one picture. Just the same scandalous, and frankly boring, headlines. I cannot speak for everyone, but there are some things that should remain behind closed doors. I’m personally ready for a change of pace when it comes to our local reading material. I think these youth’s achievements would have been a great start.
Dana Marcus,
Hollister
