The following is the group’s announcement:

“Volunteers from the American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter have opened an evacuation center in Hollister following a major gas line break earlier today. Residents affected by the incident are encouraged to go to the Community Center located at 300 West Street.

Volunteers from both the Monterey Bay Area Chapter and the Santa Cruz County Chapter have been providing hydration for emergency responders and the residents affected.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of disasters locally and across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross.
