Dear Editor:

After reading Kollin Kosmicki’s article about Thursday’s Horse Show Parade, I was surprised that he only saw “horses, stage wagons, classic cars, convertibles and trucks.”

How could he miss cement mixers, fire trucks and two aircraft? Two of the fire trucks made a grand exit in the middle of the parade, passing parade participants and onlookers with lights flashing and sirens screaming, racing to an emergency away from the parade.

For the first time in the history of the parade there was aircraft in the Horse Show Parade.

How could he miss seeing two aircraft?

Gavilan College of Aviation Technology paraded its BD-5 and Hollister Airmen’s Association with Aerodrome H.Q., showed off a Kit Fox, much to the delight of surprised spectators who had never seen planes in the annual parade.

The aviation groups were so encouraged by their audience that they are already planning for next year.

Hollister Airmen’s Association
