The suspect in a life-threatening stabbing that took place last Monday has been arrested.

Robert Bravo, 26, was wanted in connection to a Feb. 2 stabbing that left a man in critical condition. Bravo was arrested for attempted homicide in Rancho Cordova on Friday around 9:40 p.m., according to Sgt. Lou Fatur with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Bravo was transported to the San Benito County Jail the same night.

Bravo did not resist arrest at a family residence in the Sacramento suburb, according to Hollister Police Det. Tony Lamonica. Lamonica received a tip Friday as to Bravo’s whereabouts and asked Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies to check out the residence.

“We got lucky with tips and the story in the paper,” Lamonica said.

Bravo was set to be arraigned today on charges of attempted homicide and burglary.

According to accounts, Bravo entered a residence at 1321 Monica Court around noon, Feb. 2, Lamonica said. Bravo, who knew the 19-year-old victim, asked to use the bathroom and the victim voluntarily let him in the house, according to a witness, Lamonica said. It appeared that Bravo was attempting to steal items from the home to sell for drug money, Lamonica said.

After walking down the hallway Bravo turned around, approached the victim from behind and began stabbing him, Lamonica said.

After stabbing him several times in the abdominal area, Bravo shut the door and locked it, Lamonica said. He passed witnesses who were coming back to the house to try to help the victim, got into a green Toyota Camry and drove away, Lamonica said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Hazel Hawkins Hospital and then life-flighted to an undisclosed hospital in San Jose. Wounds appeared to have hit the victim’s heart and liver, Lamonica said. It was not immediately clear Monday how the victim was doing.

Bravo knows the victim and lives several blocks from the victim’s residence on Monica Court, police said.

Police found the knife used in the stabbing on Bravo at the time of his arrest.

“It was a good feeling to get him,” Lamonica said. “He admitted to wanting to come back to Hollister and hurt other people involved.”
