Dear Editor:

Upon reading the refreshingly informative coverage in Friday’s newspaper regarding John Sarsfield and the voter fraud situation, I am simply outraged. We are not a community of voters looking for comic relief; we want our city and county governments run with openness and integrity. But I suppose the days of back-slappin’, good-ole-boy Hollister politics is going to continue despite our efforts to vote in respectful representatives. I think San Benito County politics is a testing site (and what a joke!) for those who think they have the skills to govern, then move on to some other place after practicing here. Thus happens John Sarsfield.

What was Sarsfield thinking when he ran for District Attorney, the august position empowered to uphold the laws of San Benito County? We all saw his political ads with his lovely family and thought he looked just like us. We thought that he would bring an objective breath of fresh air into a position that had become suspicious with favoritism. Nope. It turns out he is has some skeletons in the closet, and he is obliged to them.

Perhaps you should let us in on your little secrets, Mr. Sarsfield, and let us be the judge. You cannot do your job if all those defense attorneys have got something on you. If you cannot be open and trust us voters, you should move to some other city and end your practice session here.

Peggy Audibert,

Hollister
