Long-time Hollister resident Richard Lee Pence died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 57.

Mr. Pence was born in Porterville and had lived in Hollister for 45 years. He worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Pence of Hollister; his sons, Brian Pence of Hollister, Sam and Loren Pence, both of Wheatland, and Anthony Pence and his wife, Melissa, of Menifee; his mother, Winnie Pence of Madera; seven brothers, three sisters, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services celebrating Mr. Pence’s life will be held Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Private inurnment will follow under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Paralysis Association, in care of the funeral home.
