Richard T. Gorsche was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday afternoon at the age of 79 at his home in Hollister. Richard was employed at Live Oak High School as a work experience and Spanish teacher. He retired in 1984 after 29 years of teaching. He attended Dowling High School in Des Moines and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended San Jose State where he received his teaching credentials. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. Richard was an active member of SIRS and the Knights of Columbus with the Sacred Heart Church in Hollister for many years.
Richard was married for 54 years to Kathleen Kincaid Gorsche. He is survived by his five children; Diane Ried, husband Charles, Tim Gorsche, wife Judy, Darrell, Joe and John Gorsche, 5 grandchildren; Jamie, Brendon, Melanie, Amber and Misty and 2 great- grandchildren, Morgan and Bobby, brother of Robert Gorsche and Jim Gorsche, wife Iris, all of Iowa, sisters; Marie Birmingham, husband Jim, of New Mexico, Darlene Kelleher of Houston,TX and the late Lee, John and Virginia Gorsche, brother-in-law of Ruth Gorsche of Iowa, uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be offered this Friday, September 7th at 11 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos. Cremation with private inurnment will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Contributions are preferred to the Central Coast VNA/Hospice Foundation, P.O.
