The R.O. Hardin Elementary School campus on Line Street was the site of two break-ins last week.
Principal Jananne Gaver is asking local residents to report anything they hear or see after school hours to the police to prevent further thefts from the school or vandalism.
“There are people who are frequently on campus on the weekend and at night,” Gaver said. “We have vandalism. If people in the neighborhood are aware, we hope they would call.”
She said the school has new lunch tables that were recently stacked on top of one another after hours by a trespasser, causing damage to the equipment. Gaver declined to note what items had been stolen in the recent break-ins.
Hollister police Capt. David Westrick confirmed the two break-ins, but did immediately not have any other details on the investigation.
“There are so many apartments right on the perimeter,” Gaver said. “You would think somebody would know if there was something going on that shouldn’t be going on on weekends or nights.”
Gaver said officers said they would “do their best” to prevent future criminal activity at the site.
