Lifelong Hollister resident
Lifelong Hollister resident Robert V. Billingsley died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. He was 79.

Mr. Billingsley worked for what is now Leatherback Industries as a warehouseman. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and held season tickets for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Murphy of Hollister; and his nieces and nephews, Katherine, Matt, Ian and Seth Hudson, all of Hollister, Christopher Murphy of Hayward, Katie Murphy of Brentwood and Michael Murphy of McLean, Va.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 2 p.m. Interment and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart School.
