Kevin Dunn was sentenced Thursday at the courthouse.

A Hollister man arrested in November and accused of abandoning a toddler to flee from police and possessing methamphetamine was sentenced Thursday to 120 days in the county jail and three years of probation.

Kevin Dunn, 34, was arrested in early November after he had been walking his child, who was two and a half years old, in a stroller and fled from a sheriff’s deputy. Authorities alleged he ended up running on nearby rooftops, invading a home and falling through a ceiling before the arrest, after which prosecutors accused him of possessing 1.26 grams of methamphetamine, child cruelty and resisting arrest.

Dunn agreed to accept a plea bargain and pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance and resisting or obstructing officers, according to records.

Judge Steven Sanders on Thursday sentenced him to the jail sentence and probation.

He is out on bail and required to surrender Feb. 29 for his jail sentence. He is eligible for electronic monitoring, work alternative or work furlough, according to records.
