Hollister resident Rosellen Babcock died in her home after a long illness July 12. She was 98.
Born and raised in Hollister, Babcock returned to San Benito County in 1981 after living in San Leandro, Calif. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart School and San Benito High School, and attended San Jose State University for two years.
Babcock was an avid gardener and adored animals. She had her own square dance club for many years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Babcock; bothers Joseph, Frank and William Babcock; and sister Mary A. Guilhamet. She is survived by nephews Michael Andrade of Los Gatos and George Hageman of Hollister; grand-nephews Randy Andrade of Los Gatos and Harold Hageman of Hollister; grand-niece Catherine Hageman of San Diego, Calif.; and great-nephews Cameron Andrade of Los Gatos and Aaron Hageman of Hollister. She is also survived by many additional nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m., proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Entombment and graveside services will follow at the Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery.
Contributions are preferred to Salinas VNA-Hospice or donor’s favorite charity in care of the funeral home.
