Two days after the boys basketball team was eliminated from the Central Coast Section tournament, the team was rewarded for its season-long success by the Tri-County Athletic League.
Six Balers were given postseason awards, the league announced Friday.
Jordan Belton and Hyram Miskin were placed on the First Team All-TCAL. Belton led the Balers with a little more than 15 points per game. In the team’s biggest games this year, Belton was superb. The senior scored 33 points in the Balers’ CCS quarterfinal game last week and scored a game-high 15 points Wednesday.
Miskin, who is a sophomore, was deadly from 3-point range. The Baler led the league in 3-point shooting with 59 baskets from long range.
San Benito Starters Isaiah Acfalle and Jacob Tonascia were awarded Second Team All-TCAL.
Acfalle averaged 11 points per game in his senior season. Tonascia averaged nearly 6.5 points per game.
Point guard Brian Becerra was recognized for his defense, with a selection in the TCAL All Defensive Team.
Senior David Hawks was named to the TCAL Sportsmanship Team.
SBHS girls basketball
Three San Benito girls basketball players were given postseason awards Tuesday, a few days after the team’s season ended in the quarterfinals of the CCS playoffs.
Kelsey Robledo, who led the Balers with 11.6 points per game, was voted to the first team All-TCAL.
Ellie Burley and Madeleine LePore were voted to the All-TCAL second team. Burley, the team’s defensive stalwart, averaged 6.12 points per game during the season.
LePore averaged 5.8 points per game in her senior year. The Balers finished the season 15-11 and 7-5 in the TCAL.
Elizabeth Reikowski was named to the “Pursuing Victory with Honor” team.
