San Benito’s Ryan Han shot a three-over par 75 to take first place at Monday’s Atwater Invitational at Stevinson Ranch Golf Course.

As a team, the Balers placed fourth with a score of 322 — seven shots behind first-place finisher Heritage.

No. 2 golfer Aaron Smith carded a 77, good for third place overall.

John German (81), Andrew Colton (87) and Brian Wall (91) rounded out the Balers scoring.

“We played well, but we could have down a little better,” head coach Regie Synegal said.

San Benito hosts Heritage at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

SBHS tennis

For the second time in a month, the San Benito boys tennis team fell to Carmel 4-3.

The Balers’ latest lost to the Padres came Monday and included two matches that want to a third tie-breaking set.

“It was close,” head coach Chris Yoder said. “It could have gone either way.”

No. 4 singles player Andrew Panger won the Balers only singles match, beating Carmel in straight 6-0 sets.

Doubles partners Aaron Francis and Nick Trillo were victorious, winning 6-2, 6-4. No. 3 doubles Simon Coelho and Alex Reilly won 6-2, 6-2.

The Balers travel to Salinas to face Alvarez at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
