The Anzar girls basketball team won its second game in a row Monday, beating KIPP 18-11.

Anzar’s Lynette Weckerle led the Hawks in scoring with seven points. Leslie Martinez added six points and Gaby Medina scored three points in the win.

Anzar won its first game of the season Friday with a 27-11 win over Kirby. Martinez led the Hawks with 10 points. Jessica Tidwell added six points in the win. The Hawks are now 2-8 on the season.

The Hawks host Summit Prep at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

AHS boys soccer

The Hawks won their first game Friday, beating Alvarez 3-2. The win moves the Hawks record to 1-5-1 on the season.

Ivan Mejia scored two of the game’s goals for the Hawks, as Anzar jumped out to a 3-0 lead before two late second-half goals from the Eagles.

The Hawks travel to Soledad on Thursday. The game starts at 3:30 p.m.

After falling behind 2-0 early to San Lorenzo Valley, the Hawks turned up its offense to get back into the game, but it wasn’t enough in a 3-1 loss.

With a second-half goal by Brianna Miltmore in the half’s opening minutes, the Hawks cut the San Lorenzo Valley lead in half.

Afterward, San Lorenzo Valley loaded up on the defensive side to prevent another goal. Anzar couldn’t get another opportunity.

The Hawks travel to St. Francis C.C. Catholic on Tuesday. The game begins at 3:30 p.m.

The boys basketball team fell 72-26 to continue its early season struggles. The loss moves the Hawks record to 1-8 on the young season. The Hawks travel to St. Thomas More on Tuesday. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
