San Benito's Kim Sparrer fights for a loose ball Thursday night as the Balers beat North Salinas at home.

The San Benito girls basketball team improved to 4-3 in Tri-County Athletic League play on Thursday, beating North Salinas 47-38 at home.

The victory over the Vikings evens up the season series between the two teams. North Salinas defeated the Balers 46-31 to open league play.

The Balers travel to Gilroy at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

SBHS Girls Soccer

The Balers continued their league success this week to improve their league record to 4-1-1.

In the week, the Balers outscored league foes Alisal and Alvarez by a combined 5-0. The Balers have won three in a row.

San Benito opened the week Tuesday with a 3-0 defeat of Alisal. The Balers scored two first-half goals to put away Alisal.

On Thursday, the Balers defeated 2-0 with a goal in the first and second half.

The Balers travel to North Salinas at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

SBHS boys soccer

Three second-half goals doomed the Balers in a 3-0 loss to Alisal on Wednesday. The loss gives San Benito a 2-2-1 record in the Tri-County Athletic League.

San Benito hosts Alvarez at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

AHS girls soccer

After allowing three straight York goals in under 10 minutes, the Hawks looked like they were headed to their second straight defeat. But then something changed for the Hawks.

Down 4-1 at halftime, the Hawks turned up the aggression in the second half. The Hawks rallied for four goals in the second half to defeat York 5-4.

“The girls didn’t stop believing in each other,” head coach Carlos Flores said.

Brianna Miltimore and Ana Madrigal each scored two goals in the victory. Ali Bautista scored the game-winning goal in the 72 minute.

The Hawks host Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

AHS boys soccer

The Hawks went 1-1 throughout the week, despite a week-opening 5-0 defeat at the hands of Gonzales.

After the loss, the Hawks defeated Marina 2-1 in San Juan Bautista. The Hawks scored goals in the first and second halves to beat Marina.

The victory over Marina was the Hawks first league victory of the season. Anzar is now 1-4-1 in league play.

The Hawks host Carmel a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

AHS girls basketball

The Hawks lost their third out of four games Wednesday, falling to Pacific Collegiate 82-20.

The loss gives the Balers a 3-2 record in league play. Anzar travels to Marina at 7 p.m. Friday.

AHS boys basketball

The Hawks fell to 1-5 in league play Wednesday, falling to Pacific Collegiate 72-25.

Pacific jumped out to a 39-9 halftime lead and never relented.

The Hawks travel to Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
