For the second time this year, the San Benito boys volleyball team rolled past Gilroy, defeating the Mustangs 3-0 (25-13, 25-6, 25-11) to improve to 22-7 on the year.

With the victory, San Benito is now 13-1 inside the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan Division.

The Balers host their final home game of the year at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Salinas.

SBHS baseball

After losing only its second league game of the season, the Balers returned to the win column Thursday, blowing away Christopher 11-2 in Gilroy.

San Benito scored five runs in the third inning to take control, as the Cougars could only muster four hits and committed three errors. Christopher’s only runs came in the sixth inning, when they were trailing 8-0.

Conner Menez started for the Balers and struck out two in five innings. He allowed only two hits. Jacob Trujillo and Eric Tomasetti pitched in relief for the Balers.

At the plate, Rob Soto finished 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and one RBI. Jacob Tonascia finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Garret Kelly also finished with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

San Benito (17-4, 10-2) traveled to Monte Vista Christian on Friday. Look online for an update.

SBHS softball

The Balers extended their winning streak over Gilroy High to 21 games on Thursday, defeating the Mustangs 5-0 in Hollister. The Balers are now 17-3 overall.

The Balers travel to Monterey at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
