Ruby Elizabeth Wilson Kuntz, a faithful believer in God’s amazing grace, passed from this life in Gilroy, CA on Friday, October 15th, 2010, to dwell with her beloved Savior.

Ruby was born January 10th, 1934, to Elmer and Willie Wilson in Wister, OK. She was a graduate of Fanshawe High School, Fanshawe, OK. Ruby worked her way through college, graduating first from Eastern Oklahoma A & M Junior College, Wilburton, OK, and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, in 1956.

While attending college, Ruby met the love of her life, Robert Kuntz. Bob and Ruby met when Bob challenged her to a ping-pong game at the Baptist Student Union. Ruby and Bob were married on July 8th, 1956, at the home of Bob’s parents in Cyril, OK. They lived in Oklahoma for eight years before moving to California in 1964.

After living one year in Rosamond, they moved to Gilroy where they established a welcoming and well-loved home for their family. Ruby was a wonderful cook and talented seamstress. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church for over forty-five years, Ruby cherished her church family. Ruby was a kindergarten teacher who was well-liked by both her students and colleagues. She taught at both Elliot and Las Animas Schools.

Ruby is survived by her loving husband, Bob, and her children: Mike (Tammie) of Rogue River, OR; Randy (Vicki) of Tulare, CA; Angela (Brad) of Merced, CA; and Ryan (Karry) of Prunedale, CA. Ruby was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Jason and Heather; Derick, Dylan, and Nikki; Sarah, Andrea, Mark, and Katrina; and Ashley and Lauren. Sisters Dorene Thompson of Poteau, OK and Phyllis Wilson of Alamo, CA also survive her. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Willie of Wister, OK, sisters, Opal, Thelma, Jewell, and brother Clifton.

Ruby was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took great joy in her family. She was known to often say “I love you, love you, love you, God bless!”

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 21st, 2010, at Habing Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street, Gilroy, CA. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 8455 Wren Avenue, Gilroy, on Friday, October 22nd, 2010, at 10:00 A.M.

Ruby will be laid to rest at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park following the service.
