RubyNell Owen was born in Alabama to Beatrice and Charles Melvin on April 1, 1918. She grew up one of five girls and a little brother, Bill, blessed her family when she was 18 years old. She married Dennis Hendon in 1939, moved to California and lived in various cities, pastoring several churches. In 1962 they settled in Torrance where they pastored Crenshaw Baptist Church for 26 years. She loved being a preacher’s wife, providing love, support and fantastic food to church members, her husband and her family. She went to heaven on October 28 in Morgan Hill, CA. She is survived by 2 sons, Gerald Dennis (Sandra) of Houston, TX, Steven Owen of Mesa, AZ, 1 daughter Deana Marie (Paul) of Morgan Hill, CA, 1 grandson Austin Dennis of Houston, TX, 3 granddaughters Denise Hendon of Torrance, CA, Beverly Candia of Lake Elsinore, CA, Autumn Lois Hendon of Dallas, TX, 1 great-grandson Daniel Candia, Jr. and 1 brother William Owen of Fultondale, AL.
