Anzar’s Aaron Hsia-Coron recorded a 17:06 to finish in seventh place Thursday in a Mission Trail Athletic League Center Meet at Salinas’ Toro Park.

Hsia-Coron’s time was tops for Anzar.

King City’s Samuel Hales earned first place, however, when he clocked a 16:12. York’s James Palaniuk (16:12) and James Silvestri (16:23) of Stevenson finished in second and third place, respectively, while Carmel’s Conrad Hain (16:43), Eddie Kline (17:03) and Tom Kochevar (17:04) finished in spots fourth through sixth.

The Hawks finished sixth out of nine teams with 171 points, while Carmel (59), Stevenson (63) and York (73) earned the top three spots.

Anzar’s second runner to cross the finish line was Diego Leon, who took 31st in 18:57. Meanwhile, Miguel Vegas finished 41st in 19:45, Greg Bissell was 43rd in 20:00 and Josiah Garza was 49th in 21:12.

Freshmen Noah Schaub and Cristian Monroy finished in 51st and 52nd, respectively, in times of 21:32 and 22:10.

On the girls side, Anzar’s Melissa Weckerle paced the Hawks to a 35th-place finish in 25:43, while Emily Wilkinson followed with a 38th-place finish in 26:03.

Stevenson, meanwhile, earned the top three spots in the girls race, with Vilma Laitinen (20:02), Anna Wilcoxon (20:44) and Carolyn Bruckmann (21:04) finished in first, second and third, respectively.
