I am the grandmother of one of the students whose life was
threatened at Sacred Heart School on Sept. 15 and would like to
respond to the editorial.
It was the principal’s responsibility to contact the authorities
on the day she was made aware of the threats to the students. She
is responsible for the safety of all those children at that school,
no matter if she thinks a situation is serious or not.

Furthermore, the child was heard saying he “would kill his parents and run away.” I feel the situation was taken care of wrong and pray that Ms. O’Donnell will not regret how she has handled it. My daughter was the person who contacted the authorities. She did the principal’s job for her. It is my understanding that any situation like this is to be reported immediately to the authorities.
My daughter also contacted the Diocese and then talked to the pastor who only knew of the incident because the Diocese had contacted him. Strange she didn’t even talk to the pastor of the school regarding this threat. She really thought this was “not serious” but to the family of the children he had threatened “it is serious.”
When someone describes in detail how he is going to stab and shoot you, plus gives you the date it’s going to happen, I feel this is cause for some action. This boy also called my granddaughter’s house twice. I feel this student needs help and hope someone cares enough to help him. If this isn’t a reason to show panic, then tell me what is!
