San Jose. He was 83.

Sam P. Lomanto died Thursday, Dec. 18, suddenly at his home in San Jose. He was 83.
He was born in San Benito County and was educated at local schools. He worked as an orchardist in the county for more than 50 years.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, B.P.O.E. 1436 of Hollister, the S.I.R.S. and the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the 6 a.m. coffee group at Ra’s Donuts and Deli and of I.C.F. of Hollister.
He loved ocean fishing, lake fishing at the San Luis Reservoir, Eagle Lake and Pyramid Lake. He also enjoyed deer and bird hunting.
He belonged to the Winnebago Group and the Good Sam Group and traveled throughout the Western United States vacationing and fishing.
He is survived by his son Sam E. Lomanto and his wife Janet, daughter Cookie Felice and her husband Sal, grandson Sam Lomanto, granddaughter Jenae Felice, grandson Damon Felice, grandson Sal Felice, all of Hollister, and granddaughter Tracey McDonnell of Manteca; brother Johnny Lomanto and his wife Babe, sister Marian Falconi and her husband Richard, sister Lucy Intravia and sister Dorothy Lomanto, all of Hollister; great grandchildren Tanner and Dylan Lomanto and Dominic Felice, of Hollister, Austin and Miranda McDonnell of Manteca, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home on Monday at 6 p.m. Family and friends will leave the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. to go to Sacred Heart Church for a mass beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum.
