Boys Volleyball

Hollister – The San Benito boys volleyball team struggled Thursday and fell in three games to Alisal, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16.

“We didn’t come to play at all,” Haybalers coach Luis Espinoza said. “It’s one of those matches where you want to put it away and never look at it again.”

San Benito also struggled Tuesday against Watsonville, but took advantage of a beatable opponent to earn a three-game victory. That wasn’t the case in this one.

“(Alisal) was a little bit better passers and we still played at the level that we did against Watsonville,” Espinoza said.

Chris Flippo led the ‘Balers (3-5, 2-2 Tri-County Athletic League) with six kills and 12 digs. Sterling Wilson and Eric Rodriguez both had five kills and Daniel Ruiz had 10 digs.

San Benito returns to the court when it hosts Palma at 6:30pm Tuesday.
