Sandra Celeste Rodriguez passed away peacefully in her Hollister home with her family at her bedside on Sunday, April 26, 2009. Sandra was born and raised in Hollister. She lived in many places throughout her lifetime including Hawaii and the Los Angeles area, but she always called Hollister her home and lived here for the last few years. She worked for 30 years for Pacific Bell and retired in 2004. Sandra loved to organize parties and she was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed decorating her home and had a talent for finding bargains. She also was known for her generosity and charitable efforts towards others.
Surviving her is her daughter, Celeste Duran of Los Banos, son, Vincent Rodriguez of San Jose and granddaughter, Adriana Duran of Los Banos. She is also survived by her siblings; Cecilia R. Sanchez, Rudy Ruiz, Christiana Gutierrez and Alice DeNoris all of Hollister, Avelina Enriquez of Salinas, Patricia Salgado of Gilroy and Ray Ruiz of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving her is her devoted boyfriend, Bobby Martin and lifelong friend, Phyllis Vasquez. She also had a special bond with her niece, Rachel Orozco. Many nieces and nephews also survive her and they will always remember their beloved kind hearted “Aunt Sandy”. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Arcadio and Rosa Ruiz.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 30th from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be offered at 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin from the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 A.M. and proceed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass commencing at 10:00 A.M. Graveside services and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
