As I sit and write this column today (at midweek,) I’m looking out my window at some dark clouds and hoping they will bring in buckets full of rain later today. This has been one of the driest winters that I can remember. Many people, including us, have already started shipping their cattle.

The year is not over yet, though. If it starts raining now we may be alright. Keep your fingers crossed for a good soaker and don’t put your rain dancing shoes away just yet.

Birthday wishes go out to a few South County gals who celebrated birthdays last week. Averi Regan and Ginger Taliaferro both celebrated birthdays last week. Les Sans and Nessen Schmidt are both celebrating birthdays this week. Happy Birthday everyone!

Congratulations to Nicole Rianda and the Foothill College basketball team for their successful basketball season.

The team ended up in second place in the state tournament for their division. Good job Nicole, and good choice of school to go play for!

The Salinas Valley Fair Junior Fairboard will be hosting its annual Pedro Party Fundraiser tonight at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will have lots of food, refreshments and great prizes. If you enjoy playing Pedro, this is one party you won’t want to miss,

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
