Shelli Reed posted a perfect 120 points, taking first place in all six events she raced in, and helped lead the San Benito Aquatics Sea Dragons to a sixth-place finish at the Coast Valley Aquatics League Short Course Championships.

Reed, 16, an incoming senior at San Benito High School, took first in the 50 free (24.73), 100 free (53.97), 500 free (5:16.34), 100 back (1:00.45), 100 fly (58.17) and 200 individual medley (2:09.97) races at the year-end CVAL meet in Morgan Hill, which featured some of the top swimmers from across the central coast area.

Reed, though, wasn’t alone on the first-place podium, as teammates Elizabeth Fleming, Matthew Thomas and Vanessa Garcia each recorded high scores for SBA.

Fleming, 7, had three first-place finishes, including top spots in the 25 free (17.60), the 50 free (37.61) and the 25 fly (20.64).

Thomas, 10, had four top times, including a first place finish in the 50 back (37.59), the 50 breast (40.76), the 50 fly (33.49) and the 100 IM (1:17.50). In two other races, Thomas grabbed a second-place standing in both the 50 free (31.31) and the 100 free (1:07.50).

Garcia, 6, compiled points for her SBA swim team in five races, including a seventh-place finish in the 25 free (18.93), a 10th-place finish in the 50 free (43.84) and the 25 breast (27.25), an 11th-place finish in the 25 fly (24.59) and a 12th-place finish in the 100 IM (1:58.08).

Team points were earned by placing among the top 16 competitors in each race. Garcia’s times were especially notable after she improved in every event while also attaining three new “B” times and an “A” time in the 25 free.

Other high-point scorers for SBA included Allyson Murphy (who was first in the 50 back at 37.19), Demi Gatrell, Adrian Rodriguez, Michelle Brunido and Kenzie Thomas.

A slew of Sea Dragon swimmers posted personal-best times in at least half of their events, including Jaret Barrios, Lindsay Cagnacci, Rachel Estep, Bernadette Forbush, Athena Gonzalez, Joe Howard, Haley Larson, Rachel Logue, Mari Martin, Matt McCullough, Joshua McIntyre, Brandon Moakler, Austin Perez, Caitlin Schafer, Jordan Schafer, Joshua Schafer, Hannah Scheierman, Nathan Thomas, Katherine Whorley and Megan Zozaya.
